The date for the Hackney Mayoral Election has been set for Thursday 15 September.

It follows the recent resignation of Labour Mayor Jules Pipe CBE, who announced last month that he would be standing down after 14 years in office.

The Hackney Mayor is directly elected and has sweeping executive powers, making him or her the most important political figure in the Borough.

Don't forget to vote!

Everyone who is eligible to vote in the election will get a polling card in the weeks prior to the election.

You do not need to take your polling card to the polling station or show any proof of ID.

You only need to tell polling staff your name and address. They will then cross your name off their list and give you a ballot paper.

If you are not already registered to vote can do so here before 30 August.

Finally, don’t forget that postal vote applications must be received by the Council by 5pm on 31 August.
