Hackney Conservatives are delighted to announce that Amy Gray has been selected as their candidate for next month's mayoral election. Amy was the Conservative candidate in Hackney North and Stoke Newington for last year's general election and is committed to campaigning for a better Hackney for all our local residents.
After being selected, Amy said:
"I'm delighted to continue to be a voice for the people of Hackney. There are so many wonderful things about our borough but I'm concerned that we're not planning for the future of our communities - we don't have enough housing or enough school places in the pipeline.
"I first moved to Hackney more than a decade ago when I was an English teacher at The Skinners' Company's School for Girls. I live near Hackney Downs, I go to church near Mare Street and I'm a school governor in Hoxton - Hackney is my home and my community.
"I know from talking to thousands of people in Hackney over the last few years that many feel they haven't been listened to by our Mayor. When Theresa May became our new Prime Minister, she promised the people of Britain that 'We will do everything we can to give you more control over your lives. When we take the big calls, we'll think not of the powerful, but of you.' I make that same promise to the people of Hackney today."
